Dr. Elizabeth Hill has always dreamed of owning her own veterinary clinic, and most recently that dream has been to own what she hopes will become the premiere animal hospital in Indian Land, SC.
Dr. Hill grew up in Eastern North Carolina where she began working in the veterinary field at 15 years of age, first as a kennel assistant then advancing to receptionist and veterinary technician. She earned a BS degree in Biology from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC, and then attended The University of Georgia where she received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Upon completion of veterinary school, Dr Hill worked in various veterinary hospitals in Georgia, NC and SC, most recently as Senior Veterinarian at Ebenezer Animal Hospital in Rock Hill for six years.
Now, having just recently received a small business loan, she is happy to call herself the Owner of Southern Paws Animal Hospital, LLC. Dr. Hill plans to utilize her more than 15 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian “to provide exceptional medical care, as well as surgical and grooming services” to Southern Paws’ clients. Dr. Hill’s specialty is in small animal, exotics, and internal medicine.
Dr. Hill came to the SBDC with a great deal of knowledge of her field, and a business plan already partially worked out in her mind. She knew what she needed and how she wanted her new business to work .... she just needed some guidance to get through the start-up and loan application process. We were impressed with her professionalism, her willingness to utilize family assets, and her drive as we worked with her, and apparently Cindi Adams, Senior Vice President of The Palmetto Bank in Rock Hill was impressed too, as she was able to approve Dr. Hill for the $285,000 loan it will take to open her practice. It has been an enjoyable experience and we hope to continue to work with Dr. Hill through the years as she expands her practice.
