	Find what you need:

		*Where do I get a business license?* If your business will be located in unincorporated areas of York County, SC, you will not need a business license; but you will need to have a site plan approval/zoning approval from the York County Planning and Development Services Department. To go to the Planning Department: From Charlotte, take I-77 South to Exit 82B to Cherry Road (Hwy 21), travel approximately 5 miles, turn right onto Heckle Boulevard (Hwy 901), the York County Government Complex is approximately 1/4 mile on the right. Take the first turn to the left and our offices will be on the right, in buildings 105, 106, and 107. From Columbia, take I-77 North to Exit 73 (Hwy 901); go left off the ramp and follow 901 to the light cross over Highway 72 and turn left at the next light onto Heckle Blvd. (Hwy 901) and go approximately 3 miles, the York County Complex is on the right. Take the first turn to the left and our offices will be on the right, in buildings 105, 106, and 107.

All business types except Sole Proprietorships and Partnerships, must register with the SC Secretary of State’s office

Sole Proprietors and Partnerships operating as a DBA (doing business as), under a fictious or assumed name in the state of South Carolina, are not required to register that name with a government agency.
